Friend,
Recently I came across this resource that I would like to share with you.
The Aramaic Peshitta TaNaK
(Aramaic Old Testament)
When I lived in Los Angeles California (Covina) I attended a Messianic Jewish congregation; and, while there participated as a volunteer doing prison ministry for six years. During that time I was asked very directly by the men in our group if we could narrow our focus upon prophecy. Specifically the books of Daniel; and, Revelation.
Having to show up each week; to teach; and, answer questions I often didn't have immediate answers to forced me to study the Bible with a ferocity and laser focus I hadn't experienced before. This would become a stimulus for my own study.
During my own independent study of Daniel I became interested in the Aramaic language; primarily because Daniel was written in both Hebrew; and, Aramaic. It became clear to me that Aramaic was the Lingua Franca in the nations were Israel was taken into Captivity. Assyria; Babylon; and, Persia all used the Aramaic Language for the Common Tongue; and, employing the Akkadian (a cuneiform style language) for the government of their Nation. All official government documents were written in Akkadian.
This would lead me into the Targums of the Old Testament (written in Aramaic); The Peshitta Old Testament (written in Aramaic); and, into the Peshitta New Testament (written in Aramaic) that I had never heard of before.
These texts are necessary for us to examine; and, compare against the (MT) Masoretic Text (which uses Aramaic Alphabet); the (LXX) Greek Septuagint; and the Hebrew Samaritan Pentateuch .
It is my own belief that the Peshitta OT and Peshitta NT should not be ignored; but, used to enhance; and, solidify our understanding of what the Creator of Heaven and Earth desires His people to know; and, understand. Why? Because Aramaic was the common tongue throughout the nations where Israel had gone into Captivity. Primarily Assyria; Babylon; and, Persia.
What was shocking to me personally; was to learn that the Aramaic Old Testament calls the Most High God by the Title "MarYah" the very Aramaic Equivalent of the Hebrew YHVH. Within the Aramaic of the New Testament Peshitta it repeatedly calls Yeshua (the one whom many call "Jesus") by the Title of MAR YAH the very same name used in the Peshitta OT when it records WHO creates all things.
It also calls Him "Alah" repeatedly.
I'm going to assert to you that the Alah of the Bible; and, the Allah of the Quran are not the same God. One is the Most High; and, the other Is Not. One is the Living God; and, the other is pretending to be The Living God.
I hope that these resources bless; and, assist you in your study; and, journey as you seek the face of the Healer, the Holy One of Israel Messiah Yeshua the Living God in the Flesh.
Shalom,
