PSALM 81 AND "THE NEW MOON"

One of the most important feasts in the calendar that is repetitive is

the New Moon.

In Hebrew this is called "Rosh Kodesh." All across the globe millions of people of faith watch the skies for the appearance of the first visible crescent moon to declare that the New Month has come.

It's practice is observed in Islam by all branches. Both Shia; and, Sunni's adhere to the same practice. Likewise it also occurs in Judaism; across ALL branches.

For much of the world the watching for "the New Moon" isn't a practice they utilize for the marking of time (months) rather they use the prevailing Calendar in their nation to tell us the day; week; month; and, even the year. Secular calendars by design do not sync with religious calendars; and, in many Islamic nations where Sharia is in effect the civic calendar IS the religious calendar.

This practice has become tradition; and, even part of the law in certain religions; but, is this practice the observance of the first visible crescent moon what the God of Abraham Isaac; and, Jacob asked us to do? Come along with me as we examine when "the New Moon" is; and, how it is important for both rendering His Calendar according to His Instructions which His People are to Observe; and, to help us understand the timing of His return. It is more important that you think.

The starting place obviously is to look at all the passages which include the phrase "new moon" in the Bible in English. It appears the following number of times in the following translations:

  • KJV - King James Version (10 verses)
  • NKJV - New King James Version (12 verses)
  • NLT - New Living Translation (19 verses)
  • NIV - New International Version (17 verses)
  • ESV - English Standard Version (16 verses)
  • CSB - Christian Standard Version (14 verses)
  • NASB - New America Standard Bible (17 verses)
  • NET - New English Translation (19 verses)
  • RSV - Revised Standard Version (16 verses)
  • ASV - American Standard Version (14 verses)
  • YLT - Young's Literal Translation (14 verses)
  • DBY - The Darby Translation (14 verses)
  • WED - Word English Bible (verses 14)
  • HNV - Hebrew Names Version (13 verses)
The reason I point this out is because we should desire to be diligent checking ALL the passages dealing with this topical material so we don't draw faulty conclusions by not examining all the evidence YAHUAH has given us.

Before we do so let us briefly examine "Judaim;" and, "Islam's" rules about when "the New Moon" is. I'm going to assert to you that there are commonalities between the two religions; and, that the adversary SATAN will employ these commonalities (and a contest calling down fire from heaven) to deceive mankind into believing they both serve the Same Elohim. He will do this thing through the deceit called:

If you are like me then for most of your life your calendar observance was based upon the paper Calendar you hang of your fridge; and, doesn't involve you going outside and observing the Sun, moon; and, stars. In fact today in Israel there is a group of Jews who call themselves "KARITES" who are strictly observers of THE WRITTEN TORAH ONLY; and, do not acknowledge the remainder of the TaNaK; nor, do they acknowledge the New Testament.

One of these who is most well known is Nehemiah Gordan whose website; and, followers are observing the Heavens to SEE (OBSERVE) when the "New Moon" has come. If you want to learn MORE about him go to (https://www.nehemiaswall.com). Although I am grateful to Nehemiah Gordan for his teaching The Greek Jesus vs. The Hebrew Messiah I do not agree with his assessment about Messiah; or, about when the New Moon is. (Karites observe the first visable crescent moon.)

Most Jews are not Karites; and, one of the main organizations which publishes articles about Judaism (according to the Rabbis) is called Chabad.
The Jewish month begins when the new moon first appears, A TINY SLIVER in the night sky. Indeed the word "Chodesh" comes from the root chadash which means new. The moon's cycle of waxing; and, waining is a powerful symbol of renewal, reminding us that every diminution creates the possability of rebirth. Rosh Chodesh offers us the opportunity to begin anew, not just once a year; but, once a month.

OK SO WE HAVE NOW ESTABLISHED VERY EASILY WITH THEIR OWN PROPAGANDA THAT ORTHODOX JUDAISM IS LOOKING FOR:

THE FIRST SLIVER OF THE VISIBLE
CRESCENT MOON

What is so interesting is that most no longer observe anymore but rather use astronomical calculations to predict when the "New Moon" will "appear" in the sky. In what the Rabbis have labeled "Judaism" they use the Hillel II Calendar which is based not upon OBSERVATION as COMMANDED BY YAHUAH; but, rather is based upon calculated dates that may; or, may not be accurate all the time.

What I find most provocative; and, intriguing is that BOTH Judaism; and, Islam are moving AWAY from the observation (SEEING WITH YOUR EYES); and, instead are moving to mathematical calculations. This will become part of the Harlot Religions practices. Take this next article about how here in America Islam will be moving away from simply observation.

In ISLAM for CENTURIES they have observed "the New Moon" being when the first sliver of the crescent moon is visible. In this practice/observance they are EXACTLY ALIKE (they have other similarities as well; but, for now let us focus on this one in particular).

OK SO NOW LET'S LOOK AT
WHAT THE BIBLE SAYS SHALL WE?

My very STRONG suggestion is that you use the NLT (New Living Translation); or, the NET (New English Translation) to LOCATE the passages that aren't revealed by searching the other passages.

The very first appearance is in Numbers 29:1-6 turn there with me:
1. And in the seventh month, on the first day of the month, you shall have a holy convocation ...
[MIQRA: (מקרא) H4744: From H7121]
something called out; that is, a public meeting (the act, the persons; or, the place); also a rehearsal:-assembly, calling, convocation, reading.
          [H7121: (קרא) qârâ'  pronounced kaw-raw']

A primitive root (rather identical with H7122 through the idea of accosting a person met); to call out to (that is, properly address by name, but used in a wide variety of applications): - bewray [self], that are bidden, call (for, forth, self, upon), cry (unto), (be) famous, guest, invite, mention, (give) name, preach, (make) proclaim (-ation), pronounce, publish, read, renowned, say.]

...6. You shall do no customary work. For you it is a day of blowing the trumpets. You shall offer a burnt offering as a sweet aroma to YAHUAH (יהוה)...besides the burnt offering with its grain offering for the New Moon, the regular burnt offering with its grain offering; and, their drink offering, according to their ordinance as a sweet aroma, and offering made by fire to YAHUAH (יהוה).
Ok so according to the book of Numbers the VERY FIRST DAY of THE SEVENTH MONTH is SPECIAL because there is to be A HOLY CONVOCATION which is for those "called out;" it is a public meeting; and, is a rehearsal for some future event. I am NOT asserting that we need to make sacrifices for SIN (חטאת) "Chattah". Messiah TOOK THAT UPON HIMSELF. I am not directing your attention to the sacrifices; but, rather to the DAY; and, WHAT TOOK PLACE.

Next follow me to 1 Samuel 20:5-24 reading along in your own Bible if you would:
